Saint Kevin's Monastery
Picture
May rains fall softly upon your fields . . .
Down in the valley, valley so low, lies the beautiful grounds of dear Glendalough...

Glendalough

Glendalough means valley of the two lakes.  Nestled between these lakes is a secluded monastery founded by St. Kevin in the sixth century.

A poem by Seamus Heaney describes St. Kevin holding out his hand
so that blackbirds could build their nest there.  St. Kevin stayed in this stance until the baby blackbirds hatched and flew away.
This is one of the offsprings from St. Kevin's nest.
